For most of the history of people buying and selling things, the practice has been deeply human. Even early on in the rise of e-commerce, you could count on reviews of products and experiences, at least in aggregate, to be representative of the real thing.
Somewhere along the way, it became clear that reviews were never what they promised to be. They have never truly been real, informative, and unfiltered. Platforms allow and, in some cases, even make it their business model to encourage abuse. Poorly rated businesses disappear and reappear with a spotless record. Products with an uncanny resemblance to another pop up with stellar reviews, burying originals or better-made alternatives. It's impossible to tell if a review is coming from somebody who has been paid for their "opinion" or has a vested interest in the success or failure of a product or service.
We believe there's a better way. One that's always been around, but the Internet forgot.
It's time to make commerce personal again.
